Delta 3-in-1 AC Servo Drive Granted United States Patent

Source: IABU Mar-Com

United States Patent & Trademark Office announced on September 11 that the control module and power module in the "three-in-one AC servo drive" were officially granted U.S. Patent No. 7,268,515.

The "three-in-one AC servo drive" was designed by RD manager Tsai Ching-Hsiung and the deputy design manager of AC servo motor Chen Jian-Da. The simple design connects many motors, which not only efficiently reduce the cost, but also save time for wiring and assembly, and therefore was highly recognized by the jury.

Most servo drives currently in the market can only connect one motor. Even the one-to-many motors servo drive operates by extended power module, which will not possibly save too much cost or enhance the efficiently, and at the same time waste more time on wiring and assembly.

The new "three-in-one AC servo drive" integrates the power and control modules required by many motors in the same modular unit. The "three-in-one AC servo drive" includes a main console, a control module, a power module and a plurality of servo motors. A single drive can be connected to a plurality of motors. The power module and control module for the motors can be integrated to a single modular unit. Therefore, the redundant portion such as communication interface, display unit and I/O unit can be eliminated. The capacitor of the bus of the IGBT module can also be reduced, whereby the occupied space and cost can be reduced with less assembling time.
