The Influence of Servo Drive on Industrial Automation Industry

 
 

After the industrial revolution of the current high-precision and intelligence technology began, the machinery industries changed the traditional ways of running businesses gradually and is moving forward to the development of automation control, network communication, etc. high level system design. The key point ˇV motion control technology has also developed from single-axis motion control to network multi-axis synchronous control. During this development process, the leading role played in it is the "servo drive".

Accompanied with the continuous changes of the machinery industries, the servo system develops various kinds of features for meeting the requirements of different applications as well. For example, the full-closed loop AC servo system is designed to satisfy the needs of high-positioning, high-precision and high-responsiveness industries. Incorporating Digital Signal Processor (DSP), it could respond the gain changes of speed and position loop quickly when the mechanical system is running and also track the changes of the load, so as to adjust the gain value in real-time. Besides, the customers could install the high-precision sensor devices, e.g. encoder and optical scale, etc. to achieve the best positioning control. When an encoder is used, the encoder feedback signals will be regarded as the position loop commands. Then, the servo drive only needs to handle the speed loop commands. Therefore, the position errors caused by the gear and screw ball could be eliminated and the system could reach the best position. Regarding the machine tool industries, using linear motor is the current trend nowadays. It not only could short the mechanical moving distance but also greatly enhance the precision and responsiveness for position control. In terms of the textile machine, packing machine and industry robot these fields that require multi-axis control function, built-in motion control structure (industrial automation IEC61131-3 control languages) and the high-speed network control structure (CANopen) are both the objectives that every brand is working to be attained.
