Application of Delta's VFD-G in Plastic Injection Machine

Plastic processing is one of the key industries in the light industry. The large amount of demand in plastic and the increasing number of enterprises have made the reduction of cost and enhancement of the competitiveness of products the most important issues many manufacturers concern. The electricity bill for production equipment (e.g. injection molding machine, extruder) occupies a great amount in the total production cost, and therefore, there is the urgent need to install a frequency converter in the plastic injection machine to reduce the use of electricity.

There are a variety of energy-saving frequency converters built for plastic injection machines in the market. Saving energy and environmental protection have long been Delta's entrepreneurial beliefs, and we have developed VFD-G series AC motor drive (frequency converter) exclusively for plastic injection machines with our years of experiences in electronics. According to the theory of plastic injection machine, the higher the speed of the motor, the bigger the injection pressure. Therefore, it is feasible to realize energy saving by changing pressure on the plastic injection machine through Delta's AC motor drive.

Application of Delta's VFD-G in Plastic Injection Machine
In the injection phases, mold clamping, injection, filling, melting, cooling, and mold opening require different pressures. Therefore, the duration of every phase is the key point for saving energy.

Delta's solution by VFD-G series AC motor drive is to process the analog signal 0~10V or 0~ 1A in every phase (clamping, injection, pressure holding, plastic processing, cooling, mold opening and injection molding) of the plastic injection machine and make the signal multiple-speed signal or program control signal (i.e. the output frequency for VFD-G). In this way, not only every phase of the plastic injection machine can be satisfied, the energy-saving effect will also be reached.
