A green building refers to the building that is "ecological, energy-saving, waste-reducing and healthy for life". Many advanced countries have built green buildings and Delta is no exception.
Delta's Tainan Plant was awarded Taiwan's first "gold-rated" green building certificate from the Ministry of Interior's (MOI) Architecture and Building Research Institute (ABRI) at the official green factory certification ceremony. The green factory passed nine major benchmarks for ecology, environment, waste reduction, and health (EEWH) set forth by the MOI's green building evaluation system. It is the first building to pass all nine EEWH indexes, earning it MOI's "2006 Green Building of the Year" award.
Delta's Tainan Plant is able to save up to 31% energy consumption and 50% water consumption. Chairman Bruce Cheng said, "After surveying the mature green buildings in Germany and Thailand, we started to think about how to use natural materials and designs to reduce energy consumption and create a natural eco environment. Tainan Plant is our first step. All Delta's new plants around the world will be green buildings as well. It's our hope that Delta's environment-friendly, energy-saving products, and technology can be widely adopted in people's everyday life."
To further exemplify our commitment, Delta created a "green map" document which maps out Delta's 13 corporate headquarters around the world, and the first batch of 5 plants in Taiwan, that are dedicated to an eco-friendly and energy-saving environment. |
