This year for the first time, CommonWealth Magazine selected its Top 50 Corporate Citizens, and Delta Electronics was ranked No. 1 in the "environmental protection" and "social engagement .categories for large enterprises.

The article points out that, Delta Electronics, the worldˇ¦s largest power supply maker, has continued to create designs over the years that offer better efficiency, resulting in a 90% efficiency rate today, compared to a 60% efficiency rate in the early days. To better illustrate the impact of savings, imagine if these power supplies were used by 100 million computers each operating 8 hours a day, it would mean a savings of 40 thousand megawatts in three years. In terms of California's electricity prices, this would mean a savings of US$5 billion.

Also highlighted in the article was how Delta constructed the first gold-rated green factory in Taiwan. With 20,000 plants inside, Delta is reducing more than 4,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. This helps preserve the Earth's environment.

In addition to acknowledging Deltaˇ¦s environmental protection accomplishments, Delta was also recognized as Taiwan's number one company for social engagement. Some of the noteworthy events that won us this honor include, inviting Dr. Amory Lovins, the author of Natural Capitalism, as the guest speaker, sponsoring the showing of the documentary "An Inconvenient Truth", organizing "Lights Out Day", and inviting the laureate of Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Dr. Ivar Giaever to give a speech, Further, Delta is putting into practice "Care for the Environment, Energy-Saving, and Our Green Earth" programs.
